Walking Iten's Acre: An Iris Walk May 23, 2017

This is my favorite time of year at The Acres--Iris Time. I love every time of the year, but iris, as you know, are my favorite blooms. Part of it is probably inherited--we always had iris growing up. Some of it is reflective--so many of the iris I have on The Acres are from Mom and Pop's. They may be "ancestors" of those iris that I loved as a young boy--carried by my parents from place to place as they moved. They are a reminder of Mom's time here as well. This year the Japanese, Siberian, and water iris have decided to bloom at the same time as the German iris. Usually, they bloom later. And, of course, the annuals have started to grow and bloom. It has been a colorful week. Oh, and don't worry fellow flower lovers, there will more to come--even more iris that haven't bloomed yet
