Day Seven of Spring Break:
Can it really be Day 7? And even worse, I
kept thinking all day that it was Saturday. Ah, well, time marches on, I
guess. I spent most of the day feeding the iris. Now, I must wait to
see if it makes any difference. I have tons of iris, but they have not
done much blooming lately. Hope this new approach stimulates a luscious
iris display. I did get some Help today. You are supposed to water
the iris after you put down the "food." Not much need
of that this rainy Friday. I was thoroughly drenched before my "work"
was done, but it was worth it. Maybe the rain will make my hair grow?
But then I couldn't qualify as a prophet . . .
New birds are
arriving. Today a thrasher and a male towhee showed up. The thrasher
is a bully. The towhee is somewhat shy. They both had their dinner
times oblivious to the rain. The red-wing has been dropping by lately
as well. Beautiful bird even if he is a fuss budget.
Tomorrow I
shall try to finish up the beds. Then, I have to get back in school
mode. The seniors, I'm sure, are eagerly anticipating all the work I
have planned for them. "No rest for the wicked" I believe they say.
Hey, they can always take another year to graduate. Or "summer school
and the living is easy." I love to serenade my little angels. Anyway, a
wet, productive, and gorgeous day seven is all but over. No sign of
blooms on the forsythia by the way. Can anyone say snowstorm for
graduation?
