This Week at The Acres: Rain, rain, rain. Wind. Lightning. The Posse is looking for cover. The grass is growing way too fast. And, alas, the flowers keep blooming. Enjoy your stroll.

This Week at Iten's Acres: Old Stuff August 13, 2016
This Week at The Acres: As predicted, the flowers keep blooming even if
I'm not here. Sigh. And I thought they bloomed just for me. Ahh,,
well. A "real" iris has re-bloomed--a very light pink. It's early for
it to be blooming, but no complaints. Otherwise lots of the "same old
stuff"--I like old stuff. Enjoy your walk.

Today at Iten's Acres: Another Summer's End August 7, 2016
And so the days as a hermit come to an end. Another summer gone, and I
must go back to civilization. I'm sure the flowers at The Acres will
bloom without me. My feathered friends will greet each day with song.
And I'm sure I can still sneak in an early morning walk or an after
school stroll--or both. The Posse will be on their own trusting in
their wildness. The Homesteader will be in charge of the cave doing
whatever she does all day long. I'm sure I'll hear all about
it when I get home each day. Another senior class will be at my
mercy--and I at theirs. I still have work to do at The Acres, but I
will have to hire some folks to do that. Seventy has caught up with me.
Closer Home every day. Thank you, Lord, for another restful summer
lavished with the beauty of your creation. Your generosity is
overwhelming. You are, indeed, the Father who gives good gifts!
This Week at The Acres: August Is Here August 7, 2016
This Week at The Acres: August is here. Hot and humid. But the flowers don't seem to mind. Glads still blooming. Phlox bouquets everywhere. Most of them are descendants from Mom and Pop's garden in South Carolina. I love the way they spread! The hibiscus have started in earnest as well. Until I moved to The Acres, I had no idea that there was such a thing as a "hardy hibiscus" that could live through an Ohio winter. But they do--and they are great spreaders as well. And grow anywhere-dry ground, bog, wild area--anywhere. Anyway enjoy the first week of August.
