This Week at The Acres: August is here. Hot and humid. But the flowers don't seem to mind. Glads still blooming. Phlox bouquets everywhere. Most of them are descendants from Mom and Pop's garden in South Carolina. I love the way they spread! The hibiscus have started in earnest as well. Until I moved to The Acres, I had no idea that there was such a thing as a "hardy hibiscus" that could live through an Ohio winter. But they do--and they are great spreaders as well. And grow anywhere-dry ground, bog, wild area--anywhere. Anyway enjoy the first week of August.
