The Bog

The Bog is one of my favorite places on The Acres.  Who doesn't want their own personal swamp?  Someday after I earn my millions teaching school, I'll build a raised walkway throughout my bog.  I confess that at first I had no idea what to do with it.  Aaron my neighbor said that there was no bog until the previous owner had the pond built.  He is not a fan.  When I first moved in he offered to share the cost of draining my swamp.  And I considered it--until I found out that the Creator has designed lots of lovely things that love wet feet.  Some of them surprised me--there are types of iris that love a bog, hibiscus love a bog, cardinal flowers love a blog (had to have been two dozen of them blooming this year), astilbe love a bog, and some wildflowers are bog lovers by design--mallows, and camissia, queen of the prairie, sneezeweed--all flourish with wet feet.  Take a look!
