The Pond 2018

The Pond isn't much of a pond--but I love it.  It could use some work around the outside, maybe a path sometime.  Certainly a couple new beds.  The stars of the pond are the goldfish.  My sister Chloe on one of her visits when Mom was here put a few goldfish from Meyers in the pond.  My thoughts at the time--"no way will they survive that--especially with our Ohio winters."  Wrong!  They have survived and flourished though I don't see them much except in the early spring.  But there are hundreds of them.  I think they go deep in late spring because the "hunters" show up--herons and kingfishers.  Oh, there are flowers here, too.  Tons of daffodils in the spring.  A stupendous pussy willow--tree size.  Redbuds, crab apples, Rose of Sharon, a lily or two, camassia (wild hyacinth), hibiscus, sneeze weed, yellow-flag iris.  I need to get another bench so I can sit here and enjoy the serenity.  Several water lilies--I have to replace them once in awhile when the muskrats find them.
Ah, country living.

The Sentinel guards the pond.
