Walking Iten's Acres: Luxury September 12, 2012
I
wish I could put into words how luxurious the wild area is this time of
year. Yes, there are brilliant patches of flowers there from spring to
first frost, but this time of year it's an acre or two of nothing but
flowers--yellows, whites, pinks, blues, purples, reds. It is a canvas
immersed in color. And despite the fact that it has been a dry year, I
can turn down many of the paths and just disappear
into the painting, the flowers towering over my head. And the final
touch to the grand finale is the hundreds of butterflies flitting from
place to place in total rebellion to the idea that the fastest way from
one point to another is a straight line. "Solomon in all his glory was
not arrayed like this." Not even close.
