An Autumn Day at The Acres November 3, 2018
It was an autumn work day at The Acres. Cool, crisp breeze, blue sky with mountains of white clouds. My feathered-friends were busy at the feeder station. The burning bushes are afire, the dogwoods are turning maroon, the pin oak on the hill has turned as well. The soil is saturated--surprise--I could probably row a canoe down the driveway. The Ancient One--the red maple at the turn in the driveway--has created a magic carpet of red. There are even a few small blooms here and there. Snapdragons and bachelor buttons are still showing off. Lots of mums as well. A redbud behind the house even has some blooms on it--and a flowering almond tree had a few blooms as well. Do they really think that it's spring? My work? I planted and moved a few things--took about five hours. There are still lots of things to be done, but that's good for my soul, my spirit, and my body. Nothing revives as it simultaneously tires like an autumn day outside. Oh, I did see a small herd of deer while I was meandering--venison lovers out there anywhere? Autumn at The Acres keeps an old man going. Thank You again Lord for the gift.
