What I call The Pine Tree Area is dominated by, naturally, a huge pine I call Hester because her cones are decidedly a deep scarlet. Most of this area is "invisible" to anyone cruising by on 25, but it is starting to mature. Also there are a number of small beds in here, pot bunkers and blocks. It still has a long way to go to rise to my vision of the place, and I probably won't be here if it ever does, but imagination works. In this area are a juniper, weeping willow, and red barbarry. Several crocus bloom early under a couple of the shrubs. Daffodils bloom around Hester; in fact, they are usually the first and last to bloom. Small trees that do bloom are a white crab apple, a dogwood, and a flowering almond. Some shrubs in here are a peony, a rose, a couple hibiscus, and a couple of Rose of Sharon. This year the lily in here didn't bloom. Some day, perhaps, when everything matures--and I've added a couple things--people will be surprised as the wind down the driveway, pass Hester, and look to their left--a beautiful garden area will suddenly appear. Some day.
