Right across the driveway from Mom's Memorial Bed is another pot bunker bed--Bed J. Once The Ancient one gets its leaves, this bed is mostly in the shade. Behind it is the tallest tree on The Acres, a huge willow, so shade it is with just a touch of afternoon sun. Crocus, daffodil, grape hyacinth, allium, and camassia do bloom early, but then things slow down until later in the season. There are a couple of iris in here, but neither one bloomed. I may have to move them eventually. One nice thing about the shade is that I can put begonia in here every year and they thrive until frost. Things that bloom later--July and beyond--are a lily, crocosmia, lobelia, and cardinal flowers. Shade flowers are gorgeous too in case you didn't know. =)
