Bed 19 2018

Bed 19--along the driveway--is a spontaneous bed blooming for the first time.  By spontaneous I mean that it's a bed of "leftover" or "extra" stones from another project.  It happens so frequently that I'm beginning to believe that maybe the "extra" stones may not be accidental.  Could it be that the chubby old bald gardener of The Acres subconsciously orders extra stones when he begins a new project?  Hmmmmm?  Anyway, this is a small longer than wide bed between the driveway and the pond.  Brand new!  Its name comes from the fact that that is the number I'm on the naming process--19.  It did manage a few blooms in its inaugural season:  crocus, hyacinth, tulips, an iris even (just one of several), a Dutch iris, a lily outside the bed, a balloon flower (have no idea where that came from), and a beautiful Rose of Sharon, also outside the bed.  I love Rose of Sharon--they come in a variety of colors, grow rapidly just about anywhere, and bloom no matter what their size--six inches to ten feet.  Hopefully, next year some more of the iris will bloom and a Siberian iris I planted in here as well.  Some marigolds did well in here as well.  And a petunia.
