Another bed along the driveway--it's only a year old--I've named Alyssa. Strange name, I know, but I have a number of Alyssa's on my prayer list. So, every time I'm out walking The Acres and meander by this bed, I'm reminded to pray for them. Hence, the name.
Everything that bloomed this year in and around this bed was obviously a "first-timer." Early on--April--came the hyacinth, tulip, and allium. A blue creeping phlox makes it's home here as well as a number of love-in-the-midst--a gift from Mom and Pop's. There are a number of iris in here, but only two bloomed this first year which is normal. For some reason they require two years to decide to show off. Obviously, I am looking forward to next year. Dutch iris and English iris bloomed in here in May as well and a columbine. Outside the bed, June gave me a few day lily. And some creature planted a sunflower outside this bed as well. No complaints from me. And July to frost a purple-blue phlox blooms. The columbine lasted until frost as well. It's a beautiful bed of remembrance.
